Vol. 357 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Wexford Schools.

867.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position concerning a new primary school (details supplied) in County Wexford; when construction of this school will commence; and if she is aware of the inadequacy of existing facilities and the appalling temporary facilities that both pupils and teachers have to use.

868.

asked the Minister for Education in view of the overcrowded conditions at Bree national school, County Wexford, when building of the new school for this area will commence; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 867 and 868 together.

My Department on 11 February 1985 sanctioned a grant towards the cost of building an extension to the national school referred to.

The Commissioners of Public Works have been authorised to attend to the further necessary steps in the planning process, in consultation with the school authority's professional advisers.

It is not possible to say, at this stage, when building work on the extension may commence.

869.

asked the Minister for Education when sanction will be given by her Department to allow the construction of the new Enniscorthy vocational education school County Wexford to go to tender.

The planning of the new vocational school for Enniscorthy, County Wexford, has reached the stage where amended bills of quantities and tender documents have recently been received from the County Wexford Vocational Education Committee and are currently under examination in the Department.

Pending completion of this examination, I am not in a position to say when this project may proceed to tender.
