Clonmel Corporation have submitted a comprehensive preliminary report on the proposed Clonmel drainage scheme. The report is the subject of ongoing technical discussions between the technical advisers in my Department and the corporation and I hope to give an early decision on this report. The scheme as proposed will provide sewers to the east and south of the town as well as the interceptor sewer which will link up with the existing northern sewer. The scheme also provides for a main pumping station and a treatment works at a later date. Contract documents have been submitted for the interceptor sewer section of the scheme and while their submission is considered premature they are being examined in the context of the overall appraisal of the proposal.

asked the Minister for the Environment the proposals he has for the funding of small and large water and sewerage schemes in the south Tipperary County Council area; the up to date position in relation to each individual scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I recently notified Tipperary (SR) County Council of an initial capital allocation for major schemes totalling £115,000 and an allocation of £231,000 towards the approved small schemes programme.
The small water and sewerage schemes programmes is devolved to the local authorities. It is therefore primarily a matter for the county council to determine which proposals to carry out within their small schemes allocation.
