The erection of an extension to St. Brendan's national school, Birr, County Offaly is in the hands of an architect in private practice who has been engaged by the manager of the school. On 21 January 1985 the Office of Public Works authorised the manager to accept a tender for the project as recommended by his architect. It is now understood from the manager's architect that the contractor selected has withdrawn his tender. Another tender is being examined but the Office of Public Works can take no action until a fresh recommendation is received from the manager's architect.
