asked the Taoiseach if he will give details of the membership of each semi-State and State-sponsored body under his aegis including the names, period of appointment and remuneration to date including all expenses and any other payment.
Written Answers. - State and Semi-State Bodies.
The following is the information sought by the Deputy in relation to the semi-State and State-sponsored bodies under the aegis of my Department:
1. The semi-State and State-sponsored bodies under the aegis of my Department are: The Arts Council; The Royal Hospital, Kilmainham Company; The Irish Manuscript Commission; The National Gallery; The National Concert Hall; The National Economic and Social Council; The Law Reform Commission.
The information requested by the Deputy in respect of each of these bodies is included.
2. The Government also make appointments to certain other boards which are not regarded as being semi-State or State-sponsored bodies.
These are: (a) The Board of Visitors to the National Museum and Botanic Gardens. The National Museum is regarded as being an integral part of this Department and under the direct authority of the Minister of State; (b) The President and the Taoiseach nominate one member each to the Board of Trustees of the Chester Beatty Library. The Chester Beatty Library is regarded as a private institution.
3. In the case of the Irish Manuscripts Commission some members are appointed for life and appointments to the present board date back to 1943. Accordingly, it was not possible to give details of expenditure from date of appointment. Details of expenditure for 1984 have been included.
An Comhairle Ealaíon, the Arts Council
1. The Taoiseach appointed the present Board of An Comhairle Ealaíon, The Arts Council, in December 1983, for a term up to 1988.

*Ms. Dukes was chairman of the Drama sub-Committee of the Arts Council in 1984. In this capacity she had to attend a number of additional meetings in Dublin and had to visit, throughout the country, performances given under the Arts Council Theatre Touring Scheme, whereby professional drama groups tour the country.
3. An honorarium of £1,000 is paid to the Chairman each year in addition to the above expenses.
The Royal Hospital Kilmainham:
1. The Taoiseach has appointed the Board of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, on the 27 February 1985 for a term of five years.
