Vol. 357 No. 10

Written Answers. - County Tipperary Castle.

604.

asked the Minister for Finance if Kilcash Castle, Clonmel, County Tipperary, is in the charge of the Board of Works; if not, having regard to the historical importance of the castle, if he will authorise instructions to the Board of Works to take charge of the castle with a view towards its historic preservation; and if he will outline his proposals in this regard.

Kilcash Castle is not in the charge of the Commissioners of Public Works. Due to their present commitments to the large number of monuments already in their care, the commissioners have not at present the resources to undertake the extensive works which they would be required to carry out to the castle were it taken into charge now. I will ask the commissioners to review their position in regard to this monument from time to time.
