No projects to be funded by private capital will commence in 1985. As has been announced previously, a proposal for private sector investment in the Navan road/Lucan road section of the Dublin Ring road was found to be generally acceptable by the Government, without prejudice to the statutory procedures involved. However, before this project can proceed it will be necessary for Dublin County Council to make and submit for my approval a motorway order, toll scheme and toll agreement. I cannot anticipate the outcome of this procedure.
In February last, I circulated details of five potential toll roads to private interests and the response has been encouraging. None of the projects listed in that document is, however, scheduled to commence construction in 1985.
