Vol. 358 No. 8

Written Answers. - Tax Free Allowance.

598.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason the tax free allowances granted to a person (details suplied) in County Limerick have been reduced from £65 per week in the year 1984-85 to £57 per week in the year 1985-86.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that an amended certificate of tax free allowances in the increased amount of £63.87 per week for 1985-86 will be issued to the taxpayer as soon as possible. An examination of the position for 1984-85 has indicated that the taxpayer had been granted tax free allowances in excess of her entitlement for that year.

The inspector will now be carrying out a review of the taxpayer's tax position for the year 1984-85.
