Vol. 358 No. 8

Written Answers. - School Improvement Works.

721.

asked the Minister for Education when approval will be given for the proposed extension to Cadamstown national school, Moyvalley, County Kildare; if any changes will be required to the plans submitted; the time schedule for the start of the proposed improvement works; if prefab classrooms with toilet facilities and so on to cater for the needs of pupils, pending the construction of the extension could be provided, and, if so, when; if renovation works will be carried out to the existing school structure to include central heating in the near future; and if she will give a possible commencement date for this work.

My Department recently acceded to an application made on 27 February 1985 for prefabricated classroom with toilets for Cadamstown national school, Moyvalley, County Meath. The school authorities have been advised that the Commissioners of Public Works have been asked to consult with them regarding the necessary arrangements for its provision. The commissioners have also been asked to report on various improvements requested in addition to the classroom, including central heating. As soon as the commissioners' report has been received and considered by my Department, it will communicate further with the school authorities. My Department cannot trace any application for a permanent extension to this school nor any plans in connection therewith.
