Vol. 358 No. 10

Written Answers. - European Grants for Dublin Projects.

543.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of grants from the European Social Fund, European Regional Development Fund and European Guidance and Guarantee Fund to projects in Dublin city and county during the period 1973 to 1984.

The Deputy has requested details of grants from the three major European funds, (i) In the case of the European Social Fund, aid is allocated mainly on the basis of national programmes which are carried out in numerous locations throughout the country. Details of the location of various projects are not available. The main organisations which benefit from the Social Fund are AnCO, IDA, SFADCo, Udarás na Gaeltachta, CERT, YEA, NRB, the Department of Education and the National Manpower Service of the Department of Labour. (ii) Grants are awarded to firms in the food sector under the guidance section of the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund. These grants were made under Regulation 17/64 and since January 1978 are made under Regulation 355/77. They are aimed at improving structural efficiency in the marketing and processing of agricultural and fish products in the Community. Since 1973 grants have been awarded to 48 projects in the Dublin area:
