The chief executive officer of the Western Health Board has informed me that this matter will be considered by the board at its next meeting on 4 June 1985 at which he will be recommending acceptance of the additional allocations advised in the Department's letter dated 14 May 1985. In the meantime consultations are taking place with staff and trade union interests and I am confident that the board will be in a position to effect a full opening of the maternity unit in the very near future.
