asked the Minister for the Environment if grant assistance can be approved for remedial works in respect of 44 houses at Riverdale Court, Castlebar, County Mayo in respect of which scheme a joint report has been submitted to his Department; and if he will comment on the implication of the report and the continued suitability of all the houses concerned from a structural and habitable point of view.

The report in question, which was received recently from Castlebar urban district council, is being examined in my Department in the context of the remedial works scheme for the funding of essential repairs of a structural nature to certain local authority houses. I am not in a position to comment on the implications of the report at this stage.
