The cost of malicious injuries compensation arising from the use of explosives and attributable to the disturbances in Northern Ireland since May 1974 has amounted to £6.876 million. Information relating to compensation in respect of earlier years and to the cost to local authorities of processing and defending claims is not available in my Department.
