Vol. 359 No. 7

Written Answers. - Darndale (Dublin) Junior School.

103.

asked the Minister for Education if she will meet a deputation of public representatives and teaching staff from Our Lady Immaculate junior school, Darndale, Dublin 5, which is due to having a teaching post suppressed which will cause increased class sizes in an area of extreme deprivation.

108.

asked the Minister for Education the steps she is taking to ensure that remedial teaching facilities and staff are maintained and improved at Our Lady's Immaculate junior school, Darndale, Dublin 5.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 103 and 108 together. The staffing arrangements in the school in question are being examined as part of a general review of staffing in schools in areas of disadvantage and a decision will be conveyed to the school authorities as soon as possible. An application from the school authorities for the establishment of an additional remedial, teaching post in the school is also under consideration.

I do not consider that any useful purpose would be served at this stage by my meeting a deputation, as requested.
