Vol. 359 No. 9

Written Answers. - Medical Card Eligibility.

119.

asked the Minister for Health the reason two persons (details supplied) in County Waterford who are on non-contributory old age pensions have been refused a medical card by the South Eastern Health Board.

Eligibility for a medical card is determined solely by the chief executive officer of a health board. Accordingly, in this instance, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer, South Eastern Health Board, with a request that the board examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy, as a matter of urgency.
