As the Deputy is aware, during the course of dredging works at Purteen harbour it was discovered that the pier was badly undermined. Work on the dredging scheme had to be suspended so that the position could be reviewed in the light of the damage to the pier and the fact that additional works were being sought by the local fishermen. A revised scheme has now been drawn up and the financial implications are still being considered. However, it is not expected that any scheme of improvements which may be approved can be undertaken in the present year.
