An estimated £166.3 million will be spent on psychiatric hospital services in the current year. This represents 13.9 per cent of the estimated total gross non-capital expenditure on health services in 1985. The figure quoted includes about £139.8 million in respect of psychiatric services and £26.5 million in respect of mental handicap services provided in psychiatric hospitals.
