asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the progress which has been made with urgently needed repairs to Clogherhead pier.
I propose to take Question Nos. 109 and 110 together. The repair and development of Clogherhead harbour were considered at a recent meeting of officials of my Department and Louth County Council and their engineering consultants. It was arranged that the repairs would be further examined by the consultants who would submit a definitive proposal with cost estimates. As regards the development of the harbour, alternative suggestions were discussed and it was agreed that the consultants should make a more detailed examination of the position and report with a view to making definitive proposals. Until such time as the consultants' reports are available I am not in a position to say when the repairs to the pier or the development of the harbour will proceed.
