Vol. 361 No. 1

Written Answers. - Wexford Employment Exchange.

330.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware of the dilapidated conditions of the employment exchange at Anne's Street, Wexford; and when it is his intention to improve conditions in that building so as to ensure that the staff work in reasonable comfort.

A major renovation works programme has been underway at the employment exchange, Wexford, for some time. While a number of minor alterations have already been completed, it was not possible to complete the outstanding works until such time as the social welfare officers and customs and excise staff had been relocated from the office to alternative accommodation. These officials were recently relocated and the Office of Public Works will be proceeding with the renovation of the employment exchange work at an early date. When completed, accommodation should be greatly improved for both staff and public callers alike.
