asked the Minister for Agriculture when a person (details supplied) in County Clare will be paid his outstanding grants for: (a) calf subsidy; (b) beef/cow subsidy and (c) two reactors.

The person named will be paid his 1984 calf premium and suckler cow grants shortly. His 1985 grants under these schemes will be paid when the batches which include his payments are processed. Payment of two reactor grants is withheld pending the outcome of investigations into the movement of animals into the herd whilst under restrictions.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange to pay the balance of a grant for a fattening unit under the farm modernisation scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.
Approval issued to the person in question in January 1983 in respect of a slatted house, silage base and concrete yard. At that date a balance of £8,590 was available from his original investment ceiling and, therefore, the amount of grant approved was based on this sum. His investment balance was exhausted by the issue of this scheme. A subsequent increase in his labour unit allocation could not apply retrospectively to enable further grant aid to be allowed in respect of that scheme.
