Vol. 361 No. 1

Written Answers. - Irish Citizenship.

367.

asked the Minister for Justice when Irish citizenship will be granted to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

Limerick East): One of the statutory conditions for the granting of a certificate of naturalisation is that the applicant gives notice of his intention to apply for naturalisation at least one year prior to the date of his application. The person referred to in the question applied for naturalisation on 23 November 1984. He had not given notice of intention to apply prior to that. The date 23 November 1984 is being regarded as the date on which he gave notice of intention to apply for naturalisation and, accordingly, he will not be eligible for naturalisation until 22 November 1985.
