Vol. 361 No. 1

Written Answers. - Gort (Galway) School.

401.

asked the Minister for Education if she will give a comprehensive report on the progress being made with regard to the construction of a new vocational school at St. Colman's vocational school, Gort, County Galway; if her Department proposes to proceed with the original plans for the construction of this school or if it is proposed to establish a community college in Gort; and, if so, if she will outline the discussions and proposals that have been put to the school principals in Our Lady's College and St. Joseph's secondary school in this regard.

In accordance with the commitment given in paragraph 5.12 of the Programme for Action in Education 1984-87 the capital project which had been sanctioned for the vocational school in Gort fell to be reviewed. Until such time as preliminary discussions with each of the post primary school managements in Gort have been completed my Department is not in a position to make concrete proposals regarding future school accommodation in Gort.
