Normally, the surrender to a local authority of a dwelling which was provided specifically for elderly persons does not qualify for the £5,000 grant. However, such a dwelling may, exceptionally, come within the scope of the scheme where the local authority concerned had found it necessary to allocate it to a category of tenant other than that for which it had been originally provided.
