Vol. 361 No. 9

Written Answers. - Extension to Mayo Schools.

133.

asked the Minister for Education if she is aware of the problem in Lacken Cross vocational school; and when extensions which have been sought will commence.

I am aware of the accommodation requirements at Lacken Cross vocational school. An extension providing an additional 591m² of accommodation has been approved and architectural planning has begun. An outline sketch scheme has been received in my Department and is currently under examination. Until the planning process has been completed it is not possible to say when construction work will commence.

asked the Minister for Education when tenders will be invited and work commenced for extensions to Currabaggan national school, Knockmore, Ballina, County Mayo.

While the detail design work in connection with the extension proposed to Currabaggan national school, Knockmore, Ballina, County Mayo has been completed for some time, the preparation of final contract documents was delayed by the necessity to re-examine the site because of its boggy nature to ensure that the extension would be absolutely sound from a structural point of view. The bills of quantities are now nearing completion and it is hoped to consider the question of inviting tenders for the project at an early date.
