The latest information available on the number of persons on the live register relates to 25 October 1985. On that date the number of persons on the live register at Ballina local employment office was 2,591.
A special area of residence analysis of the live register is carried out quarterly in respect of the second last Friday of February, May, August and November. On 23 August 1985 the latest date for which information is available, there were 2,857 persons on the live register at Ballina local employment office. Of these, 672 were resident in Ballina urban district, 1,675 in other parts of County Mayo and 510 in County Sligo.
