Vol. 361 No. 9

Written Answers. - Air Pollution Legislation.

78.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the high levels of sulphur dioxide air pollution in Dublin city and county caused by households burning coal, he will consider introducing legislation in the near future to ensure that all future housing built in the Dublin city and county area will be equipped with facilities to burn smokeless fuels.

The EC air quality standards for sulphur dioxide are being met in Dublin. As regards legislation and strategies to deal with air pollution in Dublin I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 7 on 7 November last.
