Vol. 361 No. 10

Written Answers. - County Kildare School.

61.

asked the Minister for Education if she will give an indication as to the current stage of the planning process in relation to the provision of an extension to the No. 2 national school, Celbridge, County Kildare; the remaining planning stages through which this application has yet to proceed; the likely time factor involved; and when, in her opinion, it will be posssible to allow the project to go to contract.

My Department has agreed in principle to grant aid the improvement and extension of a four-classroom school building for the No. 2 national school, Celbridge, County Kildare, which the school authorities have purchased in replacement of an existing unsatisfactory school building. A sketch scheme which has been submitted by the school authorities, and which has been the subject of detailed discussion with them, has been referred back with a view to cost-saving modifications. The remaining stages of planning prior to tender action stage include approval of a revised sketch scheme, including costings, negotiation of a suitable local contribution and preparation of the contract documents. It would not be possible at the present stage to give a time scale for the work involved, or to say when it may be possible to allow the project to go to contract.
