I am not convinced of the need for legislation for the purpose referred to by the Deputy. Article 44.2 of the Constitution guarantees freedom of conscience and the free profession and practice of religion and prohibits the State from imposing any disabilities or making any discrimination on the grounds of religious profession, belief or status. This Article is judicially enforceable.
