Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fishermen's Accounts.

3.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will make available to housewives of fishermen and small businessmen in the Howth-Baldoyle area an AnCO training course specially designed to enable these women to carry out the bookkeeping duties for their husbands' businesses.

The AnCO Training Centre in Baldoyle which serves the Baldoyle-Howth area provides courses in office procedure, basic accounting and computerised office systems. Women who are unemployed or who wish to return to employment can apply for these courses and, indeed, other courses.

In addition, AnCO focuses on the training needs of small businesses through its enterprise training courses such as Start Your Own Business and its small business training advisory services generally. The small business training advisory service would be in a position to advise on what training, if any, would be best suited for small businesses particularly manufacturing businesses in the Howth-Baldoyle area.

I have been approached by a number of women in the area who are anxious to have this course to enable them to have the knowledge to fill in PAYE forms and that type of bookkeeping. Will the Minister approach the director in the AnCO training centre in Baldoyle and ask him to put on a course specially designed towards this kind of operation?
