The first instalment (£1,000) of the mortgage subsidy will be paid shortly.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a new house grant of £2,000 has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.
Where a house is built other than under contract, a £2,000 grant is paid provided that the house was not substantially completed by 1 May 1985. In this case my Department's inspector certified that a £1,000 grant should be paid and payment was made accordingly on 25 November 1985. The applicant has been requested to submit evidence in support of this claim for the increased grant.
