asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give an estimate of the effect of the recent court decision regarding the Valuation of Ireland Act, 1860, on the finances of each local authority.

I understand that the Circuit Court decision to which the Deputy refers is the subject of an appeal by the Commissioner of Valuation by way of a case stated to the High Court. It would be inappropriate to comment on the possible implications of this matter for the finances of local authorities until all legal procedures are concluded.
