asked the Minister for the Environment the latest figures for air pollution content available for Tallaght, County Dublin, and if he will make a statement on the results of these figures.
Written Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) Air Pollution.
Smoke and sulphur dioxide levels are evaluated on the basis of 12 month periods ending on 31 March in accordance with EC Directive 80/799/EEC of 15 July 1980 on air quality limit values and guide values for sulphur dioxide and suspended particulates. The results from the Tallaght monitoring station for the past three years show that, while smoke levels have increased, the EC limit values were not exceeded. The results are as follows:

Notes:
(i) Winter medians for 1982-83 were not calculated as there were less than 100 valid results.
(ii) The 98th percentile limit value applicable for sulphur dioxide was 350 microgrammes per cubic metre for 1982-83 and 1983-84 when the 98th percentile smoke values observed were less than 150 microgrammes per cubic metre. For 1984-85 the applicable limit value was 250 microgrammes per cubic metre.
