As outlined in Building on Reality, ACOT will follow a carefully planned approach, in consultation with the other State agencies involved, to operate an adjustment strategy for farm development providing guidelines for farmers on how best to cope with the changed circumstances in regard to the CAP. In particular farmers will be encouraged to maximise the efficiency of milk production within the quota and utilise spare capacity to develop alternative enterprises. At the same time AFT will continue its research into improving milk production in Irish conditions.
