Vol. 363 No. 13

Written Answers. - County Galway Water and Sewerage Schemes.

67.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position regarding a group water scheme (details supplied) in County Galway; the amount of water allocated; the amount of grant allocated; if he will make a special contribution available to this scheme in order to bring a water supply to this area where there is planning permission for a large housing estate available; if, in view of this situation, he will grant this special contribution; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Galway County Council have approved the design for this scheme, subject to the provision of increased pipe sizes to cater for additional connections later, and they have also agreed to supply 4,000 gallons of water per day to the group.

The group's application for a special contribution towards the cost of complying with the council's requirements is being examined by my Department and I expect to contact the council in the matter at an early date. I am not in a position at this stage to state when grants may be allocated for this scheme.

asked the Minister for the Environment if funds are being made available in 1986 to provide an extension for water and sewage for an area (details supplied) in County Galway; the amount of money to be allocated; the total amount of work that needs to be done; when he expects it to commence and be completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Ballinasloe UDC scheme concerned, which provides for the laying of 150 metres of sewers and 400 metres of water mains is in the programme of small sanitary schemes submitted to my Department for consideration as schemes to be undertaken and completed in 1986. I am not yet in a position to say whether an allocation will be made which would enable this scheme to go ahead.
