Vol. 364 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin Hospital Closure.

60.

asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement in regard to the future of Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital; if he will withdraw his decision to pre-emptively close the hospital; and if he will engage in talks with the hospital authorities to agree to a phased and organised transfer over a period of a few years.

The decision to close Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital was taken in the context of the rationalisation of hospital services in Dublin. Discussions are taking place between my Department and the hospital authorities on the closure and it is not expected to cause any major problems in relation to the provision of acute hospital services in Dublin.
