Vol. 365 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

38.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will pay a new house grant to persons (details supplied) in County Cork.

There is no record of the receipt in the Department of a new house grant application from the person named.

39.

asked the Minister for the Environment the level of assistance in a house improvement grant which will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow.

Arising from correspondence received from the applicant since a previous inspection, it is necessary to arrange for a further inspection to clarify the extent of the works to be carried out. Such inspection is now being arranged. The level of assistance to be granted will be determined after the inspection and on receipt of copy of planning permission which has been requested.

40.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

This grant will be paid within the next few weeks.

41.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position in respect of a house improvement grant (details supplied) in County Wexford.

There is no record of the receipt in the Department of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. An application form and explanatory memorandum, have been forwarded to the person as suggested by the Deputy.

42.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position in respect of a house improvement grant application for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; if his application will be revised to be considered on the basis of a pre-1940 house grant; and if an inspection will be arranged for this purpose shortly.

The application related to the replacement of windows and doors. As a reconstruction grant was paid in May 1981 in respect of the house the application had to be rejected as the required waiting period of seven years had not yet elapsed and the applicant was so informed. However, as the applicant now proposes to carry out major works under the pre-1940 element of the scheme a further inspection is being arranged.

43.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a decision on a reconstruction grant for a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be made.

The application relates to the special grant for a pre-1940 dwelling. The approved cost of the work was less than the qualifying threshold of £4,000 and, accordingly, the grant could not be allowed. Neither could the normal grant for the carrying out of necessary works to the fabric of a house be allowed because the required waiting period of seven years had not elapsed since the payment of a previous reconstruction grant for the house on 28 November 1979. The applicant has been so informed.
