The facts of this incident as reported to me by the Garda authorities are that a British army helicopter flew over Emyvale village, County Monaghan, at about 11.25 p.m. on 4 April, and immediately returned back over the Border. In accordance with our normal practice the incursion was raised with the British authorities who admitted the incursion and expressed regret, indicating that the incident was as a result of pilot error.
