Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

58.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant approval will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and the level at which this approval will be given.

The application in this case related to the carrying out of necessary repairs to the fabric of the house. Before approval can be issued further clarification is required of the eligibility for grant of the works being undertaken including the possibility of a grant for an extension. The file has accordingly been referred to the inspector for a further report on those aspects.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a water grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The person named is a member of a proposed group water scheme. Following Galway County Council's recent approval of the intended source, my Department will shortly contact the group to discuss the proposal in detail, I am not in a position at this stage to say when grants may be paid for this scheme. Group scheme grants are of course paid to the group and not to individual group members.

The person named has also applied for a house improvement grant in respect of a water supply but, as a person can qualify for a water grant under one scheme only, this application will be further considered only if the group scheme does not qualify for grants.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the exact amount of grant allocated to persons (details supplied) in County Carlow; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

An inspection will be carried out as soon as possible with a view to determining the amount of the grant payable.
