Vol. 366 No. 4

Written Answers. - Ministerial Travelling Expenses.

79.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in respect of each Minister of State in his Department, for the last year for which figures are available: the number of civilian drivers employed; the total cost of salaries paid to the drivers; the total cost of expenses paid to the drivers; and the total mileage allowance paid to the Ministers of State in respect of the use of their own car.

If Ministers of State had official cars and drivers in 1985 the estimated total annual cost in respect of each Minister of State would have been £84,000. The actual total cost incurred in respect of the Minister of State at the Department of Finance in 1985 represented a saving of £43,311 on this figure.
