asked the Minister for Finance the reason the extension to the National Library at 2-3 Kildare Street remains in the hands of the Office of Public Works although it has been ready for occupation for more than two years; and the amount of money the Office of Public Works has paid to private security firms to guard the building to date.

The occupation of the refurbished premises is a matter for the Department of Education. The Department has been pressed in the matter.
The total cost of security and attendence services at the building is of the order of £90,000 inclusive of VAT.
