andMr. Kirk asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the plans there are for cross-Border projects, to be funded by the EC, in the Louth area, and the progress which has been made to date.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 11 and 16 together.

I wish to assure the Deputies that the Irish and British Governments have on a continual basis co-operated formally and informally in the development of the Border regions. Examples of such cross-Border co-operation involving funding from the European Regional Development Fund of the EC included: a study of the Newry/Dundalk road; the Erne Catchment Study; the Derry/Donegal Communications Study; the Foyle Fisheries Study; the North-East Region Study; a study of Lough Melvin.

A proposal for a study of the NorthWest Region will be presented to the EC Regional Fund for consideration for funding as soon as agreement is reached with local representatives on the terms of reference of the study.
