Vol. 367 No. 10

Written Answers. - Damage to Crops.

33.

asked the Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry if he is aware of the damage which deer are causing to crops; and the steps which can be taken to overcome this problem.

While I am aware of complaints from time to time of damage caused to crops by deer, there is no evidence to suggest that it is widespread. Where such damage is being caused, it is open to the owner or occupier of the property in question to apply to my Department for permission to capture or kill the marauding animals or to take such other steps as are considered appropriate to stop the damage.

Question No. 34 re-entered for oral reply.
