Vol. 367 No. 10

Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

44.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an inspector will call to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath as she does not want to commence work without an inspector's assessment.

An inspection with a view to the approval of a grant will be carried out within the next few weeks.

45.

asked the Minister for the Environment if an applicant for a new house grant and mortgage subsidy is eligible if they previously claimed tax relief for temporary accommodation in the form of a mobile home through taking out a loan through a credit union; if such a claim for tax relief debars payment of a mortgage subsidy or, in view of the fact that it would be just temporary accommodation, if it would be considered irrelevant.

To be eligible for a new house grant and mortgage subsidy, an applicant would, in normal circumstances, have to meet the condition that he or his spouse, either separately or with each other, had never previously purchased or built a house for his or their own occupation. Whether or not this condition is met in the case described by the Deputy can be determined only when the full circumstances of the case are ascertained through the making of an application.

46.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an approval will be issued for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who has applied for a house improvement grant; and the level at which approval will be granted.

A maximum grant of £800 has been approved in respect of the replacement of defective windows-doors and the applicant has been so informed.

47.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a prior inspection will be carried out in respect of the house improvement grant application for persons (details supplied) in County Wexford.

An inspection will be carried out within the next few weeks with a view to the approval of a grant.
