The total cost of the Tribunal of Inquiry into the Kerry babies case is estimated at £1,645,000, the most significant element of which was £1,020,674 which was ordered by the Tribunal, in accordance with the provisions of section 6 of the Tribunal of Inquiry (Evidence) (Amendment) Act, 1979, to be paid in respect of the legal costs of the Hayes family, and the gardaí and the Garda Superintendents who had separate legal representation.
