asked the Minister for the Environment when he will approve Kerry County Council's request dated 2 September 1986 for the sanction of a loan and subsidy for the Spa-Tier-naboul group water supply scheme near Killarney, County Kerry, including the sizes; and if he will make a statement on the matter having regard to the long delay in commencing work on this important and urgent scheme.

There has been no avoidable delay in dealing with this matter in my Department.
Work is in progress on part A of the southern section of the Firies-Scartaglen regional water supply scheme. It is intended that this public scheme when completed, will provide a supply for the group scheme, preliminary proposals for which have been submitted to my Department. In the meantime, Kerry County Council's request that pipes be increases in size on certain sections of the group scheme is being examined in my Department.
