asked the Minister for Agriculture if he has investigated the proposals for industrial outlets for tillage crops, made some months ago at the Tillage Crops conference, and, if so, the plans he has for exploitation of these outlets.

It was agreed by the EC Council of Ministers last April that Community aid should be available for cereals harvested in the Community that are put to new industrial uses. Community aid is now available to industries such as the pharmaceutical, chemical and paper industries using starch produced from cereals in the manufacture of certain products. The EC Commission is awaiting a report on the possibilities of using bio-ethanol made from cereals.
