A total sum of £38 million in Exchequer funds has been paid to the B&I since 1983. This includes £20 million paid this year as part of a package of additional equity which the Government have said they will allocate for the company over the years 1986 to 1989. Six million pounds per year from 1987 to 1989 inclusive is committed.
I have not received any request from the B & I Board for equity additional to the amounts I have referred to.
