asked the Minister for Labour if he will state the moneys spent on the various categories of youth employment and community employment schemes in (1) Waterford city and (2) Waterford county in each year since 1982; and if he will make a statement on the effectiveness of these schemes and the plans he has to further develop those schemes in the coming years.

I am satisfied that employment and training schemes are effective in meeting their objective. The establishment of the new National Employment and Training Authority in the near future will bring about a more co-ordinated approach to the services currently provided by AnCO, CERT and the NMS.
