Vol. 370 No. 13

Written Answers. - County Louth Training Schemes.

305.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of people who received training on the various training schemes in County Louth; and the total cost in wages, administration, supervision, plant hire and materials.

The most detailed information available on the number of people who received training on training schemes in County Louth under AnCO and YEA and on costs is as follows:

AnCO: The training centre at Dundalk was responsible for training 1,452 people between January 1986 and end November, 1986. This figure includes direct training and programmes such as CYTP supervised from the training centre. In addition a further 204 people will have been trained by AnCO's external training division in 1986.

It is not possible to give a breakdown of AnCO costs as between wages, administration etc. The total costs for AnCO in County Louth are: Training centres to end-November, £3 million approximately; External Training projected to end-December, £340,482.

YEA: The major YEA programmes relate to employment. However, 47 persons are being trained at present by ACOT on a scheme funded by YEA at a cost of £8,400. In addition 440 persons received training under the vocational preparation training programme (VPTP) and the total cost came to £132,000. This scheme is the responsibility of the Department of Education and receives support from the youth employment levy.
