Vol. 370 No. 13

Written Answers. - Temporary Forestry Workers.

150.

asked the Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry the number of temporary forestry workers who have been laid off in the last six months.

The number of temporary employees whose employment was terminated in the last six months was 294. This figure represents the majority of all temporary employees taken on in 1986. Those employed for seasonal work in the beginning of the year would have completed that work by mid-year while most of those employed subsequently finished up in the past two months.

My Department usually employ between 200 and 300 temporary workers annually and expects to do so again in 1987.
