Vol. 370 No. 14

Written Answers. - VAT on Deer.

70.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for Finance whether in view of the need to develop deer farming as an alternative farm enterprise and because of the shortage of deer breeding stock in this country he will reduce the present rate of value added tax on deer.

I am pleased to advise the Deputy that the Government have in recent days made an imposition of duties order which will have the effect of reducing the rate of value-added tax on the supply and importation of live deer from 25 per cent to 2.4 per cent. This order will come into operation on 1 January 1987.
